Words are not adequate to describe the wonder, splendor, and incredible vastness of this lake. It currently extends approximately 140 miles upstream from Glen Canyon Dam, which created the lake. When it is full, it extends about 185 miles. The grandeur of the multi-colored rock is manifested in numerous cliffs, beaches, and canyons. Contrast that with the blues of the water and of the sky, with a few clouds mixed in, and you have an explosion of color, as exhibited here.
Boats of all sizes including houseboats are available for rental, and your own is welcome. The vast size of the lake encourages one to “open it up” and speed through the miles of water.
