Utah – Grafton Ghost Town

This site is actually the second location where the early Mormon settlers tried to make a little settlement near the mouth of Zion Canyon. The first site was flooded out by the intermittently violent Virgin River, so they built this one subsequently.

This site was ultimately abandoned also in the mid 1940’s, as the nearby Hurricane, UT area was developed. The area currently is used for agricultural purposes.

The bicycle scene from “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” was filmed here, using a building that was put up and taken down for the movie alone. The photos here are of the remaining and the restored buildings.
